city of one hundred towers

it's off the beaten track yet bursting with history. a city where once a hundred towers rose above the terra cotta roofs, each a symbol of prestige and wealth, a centre of learning unrivaled in the world, rich beyond measure and run by the Communists for decades... and best of all, a place where children are worshipped and time is taken to enjoy a good meal.
