black and white

this photograph from 1927 demonstrates the timelessness of spectacle. and proves the reality of phantoms. after all i would be willing to be that every single one of these young pretty girls no longer grace the earth... of all their hopes and adventures, dreams and successes, this is what remains: a trace, an echo, a two-dimensional record of multidimensional existence...

russian wood fairy

i was running through the forest this morning, making quite a lot of noise i must admit, leaves scrunching under my feet and panting loudly when suddenly i heard a whoosh and saw this guy literally leap three feet into the air. i must have scared him half to death. i swear i could hear his heart pounding, before he disappeared again into the underbrush.

the woman with the thick eyebrows

the last in today's series of talented individuals. an inspiration to women the world over. even madonna was a little jealous. bravo!

young miles

guess i'm on a roll here: famous people as young men and women. always a trip that to see who they were and in that who they were to become. to witness the face of the old man in the boy. to realize that talent has no relation to age and that to be talented and young is perhaps the greatest thing in life. although i guess to be wise and old ain't bad either.

a couple of dudes

there was a time when gods walked the earth and out of their mouthes came sounds that changed our thoughts, taking us magically to places we did not know existed but which we were happy to discover.

for some reason this photo makes me realize how sad it will be never to see these two as old men...
